The world’s population is growing exponentially, and with it, the volume of products that need to cross both national and international borders to meet food requirements. ISO certifications for the food industry are a tool that helps us achieve this:
Food safety certifications
Food safety helps us ensure that food remains safe throughout the entire food chain until it is consumed. Among food safety certifications, we highlight:
- ISO 22000 Food Safety Certification: This standard manages food safety by providing guidelines for managing risks across all areas of production. It also includes standards for catering, manufacturing, agriculture, packaging and animal feed production.
- IFS Standards. There are different standards to comply with, depending on the activity of the company to be certified: IFS Food (for food processing companies), IFS Global Markets Food (when establishing a management system and implementing IFS standards), IFS Wholesale / Cash & Carry (for wholesalers and cash & carry markets); IFS Logistics (for storage, distribution and transport, as well as loading and unloading activities). There are also other standards such as IFS Broker or IFS Food Store.
- BRC Food Safety Certification endorsed by the British Retail Council.
- GMP+. A certificate focused on the animal feed industry.
The food safety certificate can be integrated with other certificates, such as the ISO 9001 quality management certification.
Certified organic products
In addition to food safety, there are certifications that guarantee a product is organic or has been grown in an ethical and sustainable manner. We would highlight the following certifications:
- Organic Production Certificate in accordance with CCAE criteria.
- European Eco-label.
- SMETA audit for ethical and responsible trade
At EmasConsultors, we can help you obtain both food safety certificates and organic product certificates.
