What are ISO standards?

The ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) is the international body responsible for drafting ISO standards for manufacturing, trade and communication worldwide. ISO is a federation of national standards bodies, including AENOR in Spain, DIN in Germany and AFNOR in France. ISO standards are based on management principles. They aim to add value through continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Quality management

We would like to highlight the following quality management standards:

  • ISO 9001 for quality management. A process-based standard that aims for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. For specific sectors, there is IATF 16949, which relates to quality in the automotive sector, and ISO TS 22163, the IRIS certification for railways
  • ISO 27001 and ENS for information security. Minimises risks associated with cybersecurity. Complemented by ISO 22301 for Business Continuity Planning and ISO 22000 for service quality.
  • ISO 42001 relating to the management of Artificial Intelligence.
  • In relation to specific sectors, we specialise in healthcare: ISO 13485 for medical devices and UNE 179002 for medical transport; in tourism, ISO 13009 for beach quality, ICTE’s ‘Q’ standard and Biosphere, and EN 13816 for passenger transport quality.

Environmental management

Among the ISO standards relating to environmental management, we would highlight

  • ISO 14001 and the EMAS Regulation on environmental management.   • ISO 50001 on energy efficiency, applying the requirements of ISO 50005 on improvements to the energy management system.
  • GHG and carbon footprint report (Scopes 1, 2 and 3), verified in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064.
  • ISO 14020 for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

Safety

In relation to safety, we would highlight the following ISO standards:

  • ISO 45001 on occupational health and safety. This can be supplemented by ISO 45003 on psychosocial risks.
  • IFS Food on food quality and safety (GFSI). There are also the ISO 22000, BRC Food and GMP+ standards.
  • CEPA Certified

Corporate Social Responsibility

The standards relating to Corporate Social Responsibility are:

  • ISO 26000 on Corporate Social Responsibility, although this is not certifiable. A CSR certificate can be obtained in accordance with IQNet SR10, an ethical and socially responsible management system in accordance with Forética’s SGE21 or SA8000.
  • GRI Report. Sustainability Reports in accordance with the GRI standards of the Global Reporting Initiative.
  • 2-pillar and 4-pillar SMETA audits, Ecovadis sustainability audit and Lucie Progress. This is an assessment based on completing a social responsibility questionnaire.

International Trade - Supply Chain

The certifications relating to supply chain security are:

  • AEO Certificate – Authorised Economic Operator for procedural simplifications and/or security, and Trust and Check Certificate.
  • ISO 28001 – Supply Chain Security and ISO 39001 – Road Safety.
