Objectives of the internal audit course
The internal auditing course provides training to become an internal auditor for a certified management system. The course follows the requirements of the ISO 19011 standard and its objectives are:
- To acquire internal auditing skills for the continuous improvement of the certified management system.
- Conduct the internal audit in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or other ISO standards.
- Plan, prepare and gather evidence during the internal audit through observation, interviews and sampling of documents and records.
- Draft internal audit reports.
- Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the management system through internal auditing.

It is not essential to have knowledge of auditing ISO management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 to take the course.

- Preparation and planning of the internal audit: Audit programme. Preparation of documentation for the ISO audit.
- Qualification of ISO internal auditors: Competence and assessment of personnel involved in the internal audit. Internal audit approach (process-focused; customer-focused; design and development).
- Conducting the internal audit: The internal auditor’s tools. Internal auditor’s behaviour. Collection and verification of information in the internal audit. Drafting and classification of internal audit non-conformities. Preparing the audit report. Concluding the internal audit and follow-up.
