There are several certifiable quality standards applicable to the healthcare sector. We would like to highlight the following standards which, together with our ISO consultancy services, help to improve quality in the healthcare sector:
ISO 9001 – Quality Management in the Healthcare Sector
- It improves processes, ensures the monitoring and oversight of healthcare activities, and helps to deliver a better service for patients.
- The ISO 9001 quality management certificate recognises the effectiveness of management models within healthcare organisations and the quality of the services they provide to patients.
ISO 13485 – Quality of Medical Devices
- It facilitates compliance with the legal requirements relating to medical devices and constitutes an important tool for ensuring the safety, functionality and quality of medical devices.
- ISO 13485 certification helps to minimise health risks and improve control over the maintenance and use of electro-medical equipment installed in healthcare organisations. It is a prerequisite for CE marking.
UNE 179002 – Quality in Medical Transport
- It is an effective tool that enables medical transport companies to improve the quality of their service.
- The UNE 179002 standard covers issues such as response times to emergencies and the inspection of medical equipment used. The standard includes guidelines on appropriate conduct in healthcare facilities and with patients, technical instructions, vehicle maintenance and communication with patients.
UNE 179001 – Quality in dental clinics and services
- It ensures that dental services are provided in safe conditions, as it enables dental practices to demonstrate their capabilities.
ISO 22000 – Food Safety Management
- This applies to all HORECA organisations (catering or food service providers) in the healthcare sector.
- The ISO 22000 standard sets out the requirements to ensure that food is safe for consumption.
ISO 27001 – Information Security Management
- It enables organisations in the healthcare sector, both public and private, to strengthen and protect their information.
- The ISO 27001 certification verifies, amongst other things, the proper implementation of security measures in accordance with the Data Protection Act (LOPD) for medical data.
